Apple's new streaming service, Apple TV+, will launch in over 100 countries on November 1st. Now, clues about Apple's plans regarding its own film productions have leaked out.

The Wall Street Journal has published a new report on Apple TV+. The newspaper claims to have learned new information about Apple's plans. According to the report, Apple plans to release self-produced films in cinemas first before making them available to Apple TV+ subscribers in the corresponding TV app. But why does Apple want to go to the cinema? According to the WSJ, Apple wants to attract more Hollywood personalities. Many top directors and producers are still interested in classic cinema - a feature that is not the case with Netflix Originals, for example. Whether this will make Apple more attractive to such Hollywood personalities remains to be seen, of course. But that's not all.

Three movies already scheduled

Apple is said to have hired Hollywood strategists to increase its chances of winning an Oscar or an Emmy - one of these people is said to be Greg Foster. One of the first projects is said to be the documentary "The Elephant Queen" - according to the Wall Street Journal. The films "The Banker" and "Hala" are also said to be scheduled for a theatrical release. Apple even wants to qualify for a film award with "The Elephant Queen". The information on this is said to come from insiders - according to the WSJ. In addition, Cupertino is said to be already preparing the launch for the first major film - "On the Rocks" with Rashida Jones in the lead role - according to the sources.

The film could even premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next year. The insiders reiterate that Apple is not interested in selling cinema tickets. The aim is to become more attractive to young talent. The subscription for Apple TV+ will cost $4.99 (€5) a month and of course includes a free trial month - family sharing will also be included. The service will launch on November 1st in over 100 countries - including Germany. (Photo by vectorpocket / Bigstockphoto)
