Apple Glass – the next "One More Thing." Rumors about AR glasses have been circulating for years. But now we finally have concrete details about the specifications – and the price is also reportedly known.
Well-known YouTuber Jon Prosser, a newcomer among Apple leakers, has now unveiled Cupertino's AR glasses. Prosser has quickly made a name for himself in recent weeks and months by revealing upcoming Apple products in great detail before their official presentation. But his biggest cup of tea is said to be Apple Glass. Both the name and the price were completely unknown until now. The new augmented reality product is said to be called "Apple Glass" and will be available starting at $499. Users who need prescription lenses will have to expect higher prices. Tinted lenses, however, will not be available - at least not yet. The reason for this is that the display does not harmonize with tinted lenses. Apple Glass will be paired with the iPhone, similar to the Apple Watch. Unlike the Apple Watch, the new AR product will be entirely dependent on the iPhone's processing power.
Apple Glass: Prototype with plastic frame
Prosser claims to have already seen a prototype with a plastic frame. He believes the final product will also be available in a metal version. "Apple Glass" only features a LiDAR scanner on the right side. This means the glasses are not equipped with cameras. The product can be wirelessly charged using a plastic stand. Prosser, however, did not provide any details about the battery. The interface is said to be called "Starboard," as already mentioned. Golden Master version of iOS 13 last year. This information was also confirmed by Prosser. In addition, control by gestures should be possible. The product should also be able to scan proprietary Apple QR codes - according to Prosser. Whether these QR codes However, it is not known whether these are the ones that were recently discovered in iOS 14.
presentation and market launch
Prosser also claims to have concrete information regarding the presentation and market launch. According to his sources, Apple plans to announce the new AR glasses as "One More Thing." This could happen at the end of this year or the beginning of next year. The unveiling was originally planned as part of the next iPhone show. This means that if the show takes place as usual in the Steve Jobs Theater, Apple Glass will be presented, as an unveiling via press release is out of the question. However, the market launch is expected to take place much later. According to Prosser, fans will not be able to purchase the product until the end of 2021 or the beginning of 2022 at the earliest. This statement is consistent with a previous report by Ming-Chi Kuo, according to which Apple Glass will launch in 2022.
iPhone 12 launch in October
Finally, Prosser explained in the video that the iPhone event will probably take place in early October and not in September as previously. At this point, it is important to note that the COVID-19 crisis will ultimately determine the whole thing. Today's leak is by far one of the most exciting in recent months. Whether Prosser will also be right about Apple Glass remains to be seen, of course. (Photo by SasinP / Bigstockphoto)
