Spotify today implemented a new subscription plan that has been tested for about a year – the Spotify Premium Duo subscription.
Spotify today added a fourth subscription plan aimed at couples and roommates. The "Duo" plan, which normally costs €12.99 (note: due to the VAT reduction, the price will be €12.67 until the end of the year), allows two people who live together to share a subscription – for an additional charge. This means the subscription bundles two Spotify accounts while still offering all Premium benefits. A single Premium membership costs around €9.99, so this option may appeal to some users. However, proof of address for both people is required to complete the subscription.
“Duo Mix” – An exclusive playlist
In addition, the new subscription option offers an exclusive playlist called "Duo Mix." Spotify regularly updates this playlist based on the songs each subscription member listens to and likes. Duo Mix includes two versions: "Calm" for softer tracks and "Upbeat" for songs with a faster tempo. Premium Duo users can also create and share playlists with each other. Existing individual subscription members can upgrade to Premium Duo at any time without affecting their existing subscription. Account, the audio history or the preferences are lost. Cancellation is also possible at any time. (Photo by Denys Prykhodov / Bigstockphoto)
