Spotify received a major update today to match iOS 13 - the app can now be used with Siri. An Apple TV app has also been released.
Spotify – Apple Music’s direct competitor – can now boast Siri integration. Similar to Apple Music, subscribers can ask Siri to play albums, playlists or songs. SiriKit integration was previously only available for Apple Music – but Apple has relaxed the rules in iOS 13. This means that third-party developers will be able to access SiriKit in the future and enhance their apps with the smart assistant. Users are asked to update their Spotify app to version 8.5.26 in order to use the new feature. However, one important feature must be noted here – anyone who wants to use Siri in Spotify must announce the album, song or playlist and refer to Spotify – example: “Hey Siri, start playlist XXX on Spotify"In addition to Siri integration, Spotify can now be controlled hands-free in CarPlay.
In addition, a separate Spotify app is available on the Apple TV HD and 4K as of today. This means that users of tvOS 13 can access their media library directly via Apple's TV box. You can find all the new features and bug fixes verbatim below. (Photo by nopparat.k / Bigstockphoto)
