Apple has released updates for its older operating systems. Users can download the updates for iOS 15.7.5, iPadOS 15.7.5, macOS Monterey 12.6.5 and macOS Big Sur 11.7.6.

Apple updated its current operating systems before the weekend. But they are not the only ones who received an update. On Monday evening published Apple patches some of its older operating systems. iOS 15.7.5 and iPadOS 15.7.5, both of which have the build number 19H332, are now available. There are also updates for macOS Monterey to 12.6.5 and macOS Big Sur to 11.7.6. Sometimes updates are offered for older operating system versions used by iPhone, iPad and Mac models that have either not yet been upgraded to the modern generation or are not supported. The updates usually do not contain any new features but rather security fixes that the newer operating systems also receive.

In this case, it's about fixing issues that also affect newer operating system versions. On Apple's security page, there are fixes for the IOSurfaceAccelerator for all four operating systems, which can allow an app to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. An issue that Apple knows is being actively exploited. The iOS and iPadOS update also includes a WebKit security update that closes a loophole that allows "maliciously crafted web content" to execute code. This issue has also been fixed and Apple is aware that it is being actively exploited. We recommend that you keep your devices up to date with patches and security updates as they provide additional protection. (Photo by nikkimeel / Bigstockphoto)
