Samsung has unveiled new devices at its annual “Samsung Unpacked” event. The new Galaxy S20 models and a new foldable device – the Galaxy Z Flip – were presented.
As expected, Samsung has introduced the Galaxy S20, S20 Plus and S20 Ultra. However, the South Korean company has also launched a second attempt in the field of foldable phones.
The Galaxy Z Flip
The new Galaxy Z Flip is Samsung's second attempt to get into the folding phone business. By using a foldable glass display equipped with the patented "Ultra Thin Glass", the Galaxy Z Flip has a 6.7-inch screen with 2,636 x 1,080 pixels. This gives the device a pixel density of 425 ppi and a screen ratio of 21.9:9. Galaxy Z Flip – Specifications, Availability and Price
According to this, the company claims to have solved the problem that existed with the Galaxy Fold. In collaboration with Google, Samsung has introduced the so-called "Flex Mode", a custom user interface that takes advantage of the display, effectively splitting it into two 4-inch screens and enabling it to be used for multitasking. A multi-active window system can be used to drag and drop applications. The device has a 7-nanometer octa-core processor that clocks at 2.95 GHz and uses 8 GB of RAM - the internal memory is 256 GB. The Z Flip comes with a 3,300 mAh battery and can be charged both wired and wirelessly. The Wireless PowerShare function is also on board. It was equipped without 5G connectivity and offers two biometric authentication methods - facial recognition and a fingerprint sensor. The front camera uses 10 megapixels while the back houses a dual camera. The 12-megapixel wide-angle lens features OIS, 8x digital zoom, HDR10+ and Dual Pixel AF and is accompanied by a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The Galaxy Z Flip will debut in the US and South Korea on February 14. In Germany, it will be available from February 21 for a price of 1,480 euros.

The Galaxy S20 series
In addition to the Z Flip, the brand new Galaxy S20 series was also presented. Samsung has followed Apple's strategy again this year and has presented three devices - S20, S20 Plus and S20 Ultra. All three models have the Samsung Infinity-I Dynamic AMOLED display, which works at 120 Hz and a WQHD+ resolution of 3.20 x 1,440 pixels. The Galaxy S20 comes with a 6.2-inch display (563ppi) while the S20 Plus has a 6.7-inch screen (525ppi). The display of the Ultra version offers 6.9 inches (511ppi). While the Galaxy S20 supports sub-6Ghz 5G technology, the S20 Plus and S20 Ultra use both sub-6Ghz and mmWave. It is important to note that pure LTE devices are offered in some markets. All three models use Samsung's Exynos 990, a 7-nanometer chipset with an octa-core processor. Depending on the model, 8 GB, 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM will be included. Storage capacities start at 128 GB and go up to 512 GB - there is also a microSD expansion.

It uses a 108 megapixel camera with 100x digital zoom and 10x optical zoom. It also uses time-of-flight technology. All three devices can record videos in 8K resolution at 30 fps. Availability and prices
The batteries have a capacity of 4,000 mAh, 4,500 mAh and 5,000 mAh. All three models support fast wireless charging and the Wireless PowerShare function.
