The Japanese blog Macotakara has pointed out a brand new accessory pointed outthat was introduced specifically for the iPhone 12 series and is intended to compete with Apple's unreleased charging mat. The Japanese accessory manufacturer MPOW has presented a product that has magnets. The description states:
"MPOW JAPAN announces a wireless charger that supports the function of adjusting the charging position using a magnet. This is a new wireless charging mechanism installed in the new iPhone."
The company goes on to describe the product as featuring a "ring-shaped magnetic mechanism," identical to a similar mechanism in the new iPhone, that allows the charger to firmly connect to the device. This enables better charging performance than traditional wireless chargers, which can shift their sweet spot over time.

The company also points out that the product is "intended for use with new iPhones and is not compatible with other smartphones." The product announcement comes as something of a surprise, especially since Apple has yet to confirm the iPhone 12 series.
