An interesting detail has surfaced in the beta version of iOS 26: Apple is apparently working on a new generation of the Apple Watch Ultra. An image in the system file shows a display resolution that hasn't been seen in any previous model. This provides concrete clues about the Apple Watch Ultra 3.
An image of an Apple Watch has surfaced in iOS 26, which, according to MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris, shows a resolution of 422 x 514 pixels. These dimensions do not match any current model. The previous Apple Watch Ultra 2 has a resolution of 410 x 502 pixels. This suggests that Apple is working on a slightly larger display. According to the discovery, the case itself will likely remain the same size. The larger display area could be achieved by narrower bezels. A change in the case size is not currently suspected, and there are no corresponding rumors.
Technical upgrades under discussion
In addition to the larger display, other innovations related to the Apple Watch Ultra 3 are also being discussed. Among other things, satellite communication is expected – a feature that should enable communication independent of the cellular network. This function would be particularly useful for outdoor activities and emergency situations. There are also hints of a brighter display with a faster refresh rate. A new chip is also being discussed, which should deliver more performance with better energy efficiency. In the area of health, new features are expected, including blood pressure measurement, which would significantly expand health monitoring.
Market launch expected with iPhone 17 and Watch Series 11
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is expected to be unveiled this fall. It will likely be unveiled alongside the iPhone 17 and the new Apple Watch Series 11. The exact date hasn't been confirmed yet, but Apple typically hosts an event in September—currently, September 9 is expected. The final version of iOS 26 is also expected a week later.
