The latest beta of iOS 18 reveals exciting changes and improvements that could improve the experience with FaceTime, Siri, and the Wallet app. Currently, the beta is available to members of the Apple Developer Program, while the public beta will follow in July. The general release is planned for September. Let's take a detailed look at the new features that await you.

Apple remains true to its tradition of regularly releasing updates that improve the user experience and open up new possibilities. iOS 18 brings not only optimizations but also innovative features that help you get the most out of your iPhone. FaceTime, Siri and the Wallet app in particular have seen notable improvements.

FaceTime

FaceTime has established itself as one of the most popular communication apps, and with iOS 18, the quality of your video calls will be further improved. Apple has announced that FaceTime will use more data in low power mode when network conditions are good to increase video quality. This means that even with low power mode on, you can enjoy high-quality video calls without having to worry about a poor connection. Benefits at a glance:

  • Improved video quality in power saving mode
  • Optimized use under stable network conditions

Siri

With iOS 18, Siri gets a notable improvement in audio quality in Bluetooth-enabled vehicles that don't support CarPlay. You can find this new setting under Settings → Siri → Siri Responses → Respond via Media Source. Siri will then respond via A2DP car stereos, which is ideal if you're playing media from your iPhone. Benefits at a glance:

  • Significantly improved audio quality of Siri in vehicles
  • Easy access and activation via settings

wallet

The Wallet app has proven to be a handy tool for storing important documents digitally. With iOS 18, this feature is being expanded further. Users who add an ID to the Wallet app can now be prompted to take a Live Photo. This provides an additional layer of security and ensures that the real and legitimate person is adding the ID. Benefits at a glance:

  • Increased security through live photo authentication
  • Convenient and contactless identification at selected locations

Apple first announced this feature in 2021, but so far only four U.S. states have introduced this option. This new method offers an even safer and more convenient way to digitize and use your driver's license or ID card.

iOS 18: Improved services and applications for your everyday life

The iOS 18 beta notes clearly show that Apple continues to strive to improve its services and applications. The new features in FaceTime, Siri and the Wallet app not only offer improved performance and security but also more convenient use in everyday life. Look out for the public beta in July and prepare for the official release in September to take full advantage of these exciting new features. Are you looking for new accessories?
