The generation of folding smartphones has begun – after Samsung, Huawei is now following suit. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has a clear opinion on this topic.
Samsung recently introduced its folding smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Fold – the world’s first, is said to cost a whopping $2,000. Huawei followed shortly after with its answer. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer is launching the Mate X – the Galaxy Fold competitor is said to cost $2,600. And Apple? A look at current rumors leaves little hope for a flip iPhone Despite a recently revealed Apple patent on the subject of folding displays, Cupertino does not seem to be planning to introduce a foldable iPhone – at least not this year.
Bloomberg follows up
The news channel Bloomberg asked Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak how Cupertino should best respond. In an interview, "The Woz" explained how concerned he was that Apple has yet to offer a competitive product. According to Wozniak, Cupertino is a leader in several areas, including Touch ID and Face ID, and of course, Apple Pay. However, this is far from enough. He believes that Samsung and Huawei are ahead when it comes to foldable smartphones, which could significantly hand Apple a setback. Nevertheless, he hopes to use Apple's old technique of surprising customers – the time-honored "one more thing."
