While Apple is making the new operating systems available as beta versions for developers and public testers, the company has now started sending AppleSeed invitations to selected participants for the watchOS 6 beta.
Currently, emails are being sent to users indicating that Apple is inviting them to join the AppleSeed program for watchOS 6. The email advises participants that they can test the watchOS 6 pre-release software and provide feedback to the company. While Apple also offers a public beta program that anyone can participate in, AppleSeed requires a direct invitation from Cupertino. Participation in the AppleSeed program also leads to slightly different feedback.
AppleSeed program is subject to confidentiality agreement
The selected participants will be informed via a special discussion forum. They will receive questionnaires and can also report quality and performance issues directly to Apple via a Feedback Assistant app. Another big difference from the Developer and Public Beta programs is that the AppleSeed program is covered by Apple's non-disclosure agreement.
This limits the ability of users to tell other people about their experiences. There is also the option that Apple will provide users with slightly different builds of the respective software via AppleSeed. These versions can contain both small and large changes compared to the normal developer or public beta, which are secret. Apple is expected to release watchOS 6 in fall of this year alongside iOS 13, iPadOS 13, tvOS 13 and macOS 10.15 Catalina. (Photo by Unsplash)
