Apple has now rolled out iOS 13.7 to all users. The update was briefly available for download to all users last week offeredbefore it was pulled and made available to developers.

Apple has now officially rolled out iOS 13.7 and iPadOS 13.7 to all users worldwide. The update was originally offered to the public last week before being pulled and made available only to developers. This caused some confusion. While most people are eagerly awaiting iOS 14 expect, Apple has now decided to go for another round with iOS 13. But what exactly is new?

Opt-In: COVID-19 notification system without app

The focus of the update is on expanding the COVID-19 API. According to Apple, the update will give users the option to opt in to COVID-19 notifications (motion alerts) without having to download an app from their local health authority. Apple explains:

With iOS 13.7, you can opt into the COVID-19 notification system without downloading an app. The availability of the system depends on support from your local health authority.

Use of the feature is voluntary and must be activated separately. This requires the participation of the local health authority. In addition to this fundamental change in the area of movement notifications, bugs have also been fixed and performance improvements have been made. Since the update is currently being rolled out, it may happen that not every user receives the build immediately.
