At the end of last year, Apple entered into a partnership with Amazon that enables the use of Apple Music on Echo speakers in the USA – the service is now also available in Germany.
Amazon Echo owners and Apple Music subscribers have had to deal with a compatibility issue so far. But now this is over in Germany too. Anyone with an active Apple Music subscription and an Echo at home can now play music through it. We'll explain how this works below. Amazon Echo owners can add multiple music services – provided they have the corresponding subscriptions – or change the default service. If you choose the first option, you must specify the music service when selecting a song – for example: "Alexa, play AC/DC on Apple Music." However, if Apple Music is set as the default service, the platform is omitted – for example: "Alexa, play AC/DC."
How to add Apple Music as a service
To add Apple Music as an additional music service, you first need to open the Amazon Alexa app. Now navigate to the "Menu" in the top left corner and then select "Settings." Under Alexa Settings, tap the "Music" menu item. Here you can now connect Apple Music to Alexa. Follow the steps on your device.
How to select Apple Music as your default service
To use Apple Music as your default service in the future, you'll need to set it up with Alexa as well. To do this, follow the steps above until you reach the "Music" selection menu. All connected services will now be displayed. You can now set Apple Music as your default service in the lower section.
