Apple will provide financial resources in the fight against the coronavirus – CEO Tim Cook confirmed this on Twitter.

Apple boss Tim Cook has responded via Twitter and asked for donations to fight the coronavirus Apple is planning to provide financial support to local aid groups. Cook writes in his tweet:

As people in China and around the world celebrate Lunar New Year, we send our love and support to the many affected by the coronavirus. Apple will donate to local groups to support all those affected.

Cook’s message therefore shows that Apple will be donated to organizations or groups that are on site and work with those affected. The exact amount of the donations was not specified, however.

Coronavirus vaccine in 2021 at the earliest

The virus, which was unknown until recently, causes severe lung disease and an acute respiratory infection. It was first discovered in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019. To date, over 1,300 infections have been documented (according to authorities), with most of them in the surrounding province of Hubei. The spread of the virus has already been confirmed. Cases have been registered in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, the USA, France and Australia. Other countries are currently on high alert - especially China's neighbors. There is no specific cure yet - experts expect a vaccine to be ready in early 2021 at the earliest. (Photo by shawn_h / Bigstockphoto)
