Apple has announced a new promotion in the iOS App Store via a story entry. According to this, a new surprise awaits us in the App Store every day from December 24th to December 29th.
Apple wants to surprise us every day in the App Store for the next six days. What exactly this will involve is not yet known. The company will probably give us paid apps or games - let's wait and see. The entry itself says the following:

Look for the unwrapped gifts in the App Store Apps, Games or Today section. From December 24th to 29th, you'll find a new surprise in the App Store every day. Come back daily to discover what goodies we have in store for you!

The story entry is not yet visible to all users in the App Store. However, this should change in the next few hours. Apple appears to be launching a new campaign that is reminiscent of the "12 Days of App Store Gifts" campaign. This was discontinued in 2014.
