Apple has, as planned, third beta of iOS 13 for developers. Some changes were made and new features were added.
Apple occasionally offers updates for iOS, watchOS, tvOS and macOS as a closed preview for developers and also makes them available to public testers. Users of this offer can test all kinds of new functions on their iPhone, iPad, Apple TV or Mac - with the exception of the Apple Watch - watchOS remains reserved for registered developers. In addition to new functions, these beta versions also contain errors. Sometimes such bugs can make using the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Apple Watch and Mac significantly more difficult. The compatibility of individual programs and general performance can also suffer. Therefore, a beta should never be used on a device that is used every day. We always recommend using a second device for such a project. (How to participate in the Public Beta program)
- Home App – Within the Home app, users are greeted with a notice that makes it clear that current cameras do not yet support iCloud Secure Recording. In addition, the animation when opening accessories has been slightly optimized. In addition, Apple has equipped the accessory grouping with new icons.
- notes and reminders – The Notes application has a new welcome screen that highlights the most important features of the app, such as the gallery view, new checklist options and shared folders. In Reminders, however, completed items can now be individually shown or hidden on a list basis.
- Health App – The Health app features new graphs to display highlighted metrics such as steps, calories burned, workouts, etc.
- accessibility features – Users using an external mouse can now adjust the cursor size incrementally within the settings. (How to connect a mouse or trackpad to your iPhone or iPad)
- Other optimizations – In the latest iOS 13 beta, there is a more extensive Apple Arcade category in the App Store that highlights the upcoming subscription service. On the iPad, in split view, the icons at the top now mark the active tab. The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max have a new option in the settings to activate “FaceTime Attention Correction”. This makes the conversation partner’s eyes look better. The new Memoji stickers have also been slightly modified. Emergency contacts saved in the “Contacts” application now have a new red star next to their name - this makes them easier to filter out. In addition, another category called “Me” has been added to the new “Find my” app.
Of course, some minor bugs have also been fixed. According to initial reports, the third beta of iOS 13 is generally stable. If further changes emerge, we will update the article. Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen.) for 19.99 euros – only for a short time (Image: Apple)
