Last night, Apple unexpectedly released the first beta of iOS 14.2, iPadOS 14.2, tvOS 14.2 and watchOS 7.1 for registered developers.
After iOS 14 was recently released to users published a new beta phase has now started. While developers expected iOS 14.1 to be the next release, iOS 14.2 has now been officially released. providedThe update naturally fixes some bugs and improves performance, according to Apple. But there are also new features. The music recognition service Shazam can be integrated into the Control Center starting with iOS 14.2. This makes the button much easier to access in the future. To add it, simply add the "Music Recognition" item to the Control Center in the iOS settings.

As part of the update, the media controls in the control center were also revised. This now offers content suggestions as well as a new option for an overview of all AirPlay-enabled speakers and TVs.

Apple's attention to detail
A change has also been made within Apple Music. This means that when the AirPlay button is tapped, the menu now appears as a popover instead of filling the entire screen.

iOS 14.2 also introduced some minor changes made. For example, the Apple Watch app icon now has a solo loop band. By the way - the watchOS 7.1 beta does not contain some of the new watch faces that were introduced in watchOS 7. Apple will probably add these in later versions. It remains to be seen when the final version of iOS 14.2 will be released. It is not known whether the company will roll out smaller updates in the meantime.
