With the AirPods Pro 3, Apple introduces the next generation of its world-bestselling in-ear headphones. The new model brings improvements across the board: from sound quality to active noise cancellation to fitness features like heart rate monitoring. Battery life has also been extended, while new features like Live Translation enhance everyday life.

Since their launch, AirPods Pro have been the benchmark for wireless audio. The third generation takes this experience to a new level. In addition to a redesigned design for a better fit, AirPods Pro 3 offer the world's best active noise cancellation for in-ear headphones. At the same time, new health and translation features expand their usefulness far beyond music, phone calls, and podcasts.

World-best active noise cancellation

AirPods Pro 3 feature a multi-port acoustic architecture that optimizes airflow in the ear. Combined with next-generation Adaptive EQ, they deliver a spatial listening experience with powerful bass, clear vocals, and a rich soundstage. Active Noise Cancellation suppresses twice as much noise as AirPods Pro 2 and four times as much as the first generation. This is made possible by low-noise microphones, advanced signal processing, and new foam ear tips. In ANC mode, up to eight hours of music playback are possible—a 33 percent increase over AirPods Pro 2.

New design and improved fit

The new design is the result of over 10,000 ear scans and more than 100,000 hours of research. The result is smaller AirPods with a more centered shape for greater stability. This is complemented by ear tips in five sizes, including a new XXS size. The AirPods Pro 3 are IP57 sweat and water resistant, making them suitable for intense workouts or changeable weather conditions.

Fitness functions with heart rate measurement

For the first time, AirPods feature an optical heart rate sensor (PPG), which measures blood flow 256 times per second. Combined with the sensors in the earbuds (accelerometer, gyroscope) and GPS data from the iPhone, over 50 workouts can be analyzed. Heart rate, calorie consumption, and progress on the Move ring are all tracked directly. Awards can be earned via the Fitness app. Apple Intelligence's Workout Buddy provides additional motivation through personalized reminders. For Apple Fitness+ users, live metrics such as heart rate, calorie consumption, and the Burn Bar are displayed on the screen during workouts.

Live translation for personal conversations

AirPods Pro 3 are the first in-ear headphones to feature live translation. The beta version allows real-time translation of conversations, currently in English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. Italian, Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese will follow by the end of 2025. The feature operates hands-free using computational audio and Apple Intelligence. If both callers are using AirPods and an iPhone, translations are played directly in their ears. Alternatively, an iPhone can be used as a display, showing the conversation in the preferred language.

Hearing health and longer battery life

Apple is expanding its hearing health program: With AirPods Pro 3, you can conveniently conduct a hearing test at home. Improved noise cancellation makes this feature easier to use. For hearing aid wearers, automatic conversation amplification is available, highlighting voices in noisy environments. Battery life increases to up to 10 hours in Transparency Mode, which is 67 percent longer than the previous generation.

Sustainability and environmental friendliness

With the AirPods Pro 3, Apple continues its plan to become carbon neutral by 2030. The new model is made from 40 percent recycled materials, including 100 percent recycled cobalt in the battery and 65 percent recycled plastic in the charging case. It is produced using 40 percent renewable energy, and the packaging is made entirely of fiber and is recyclable.

Prices and availability

AirPods Pro 3 are available for pre-order now and will be available starting September 19, 2025. The price is $249. New customers receive three months of free access to Apple Music and Apple Fitness+ with purchase. AppleCare+ and AppleCare One are available as additional insurance and support options. They cover theft, loss, accidental damage, and battery replacement, among other things.
