Apple today released new firmware for the AirPods Max. It is the second update the high-end over-ear headphones have received since their launch in December.
The new firmware - 3C39 - replaces the launch firmware 3C16, which was released on the day the AirPods Max launched. Apple doesn't share details about what's included in new firmware updates, so we don't know what bug fixes or improvements the new update might offer. There have been reports of issues with battery life on the AirPods Max, so it's possible the firmware update will fix that issue.
How to check the firmware version of your AirPods
If you want to know the current firmware version of your AirPods Max, all you have to do is connect the headphones to your iPhone and open the "General" section of the iOS settings. Under "About," you can select the AirPods. The AirPods update usually occurs automatically as soon as the AirPods are connected to a device and in use. However, this process can be delayed. In some cases, however, the update can also be forced immediately. To do this, connect the AirPods to a power source and pair them with an iPhone or iPad. The update should then start immediately. However, there is no guarantee. AirPods firmware updates often contain performance improvements, bug fixes, and feature adjustments.
