Many fans are asking themselves when Apple will introduce the new iPhone generation and put it on the shelves. The long-standing fans among you can calculate an approximate date - assuming Apple sticks to the old schedule. But not everyone follows the big iPhone ceremony year after year - that's why we would like to take a closer look at the whole thing.
After the WWDC (World Wide Developer Conference) in June, the next big Apple event is the iPhone launch. This has been taking place in September for years. At such a keynote, new iPhone and Apple Watch models are usually presented. In addition to new hardware, the associated software is of course also highlighted. This year, the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max, the successor to the iPhone XR and the Apple Watch 5 are expected. But on which day could the Apple keynote take place? In the last four years, Apple has presented the new iPhone and Apple Watch generation in the second or third week of September.
- iPhone XS and Co.: Wednesday, September 12, 2018
- iPhone X and Co.: Tuesday, September 12, 2017
- iPhone 7 and Co.: Wednesday, September 7, 2016
- iPhone 6S and Co.: Wednesday, September 9, 2015
The lineup illustrates Apple's pattern - the new iPhone generation is usually presented on the second Tuesday or Wednesday in September. Consequently, the upcoming event should take place on September 10th or September 11th. However, since Apple is known to skip September 11th, this year's keynote will most likely take place on Tuesday, September 10th.
When will Apple launch the iPhone 11 and Co.?
Now that we have analyzed the presentation of the new generation of devices, the question remains as to when Apple will put the new products on the shelves. There is a pattern for this too - with two exceptions. Generally, the new products can be pre-ordered on the Friday after the event in the same week. So if the keynote actually takes place on September 10th, fans can pre-order the iPhone 11 and Co. from Friday, September 13th. The launch of the new products will take place a week later. Below is a list of the last three years.
- iPhone XS & iPhone XS Max: September 21, 2018
- iPhone XR: October 26, 2018
- iPhone 8 & iPhone 8 Plus: September 22, 2017
- iPhone X: November 3, 2017
- iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus: September 16, 2016
Apart from the delays with the iPhone X and iPhone XR, a pattern can also be seen here. The market launch should therefore be on September 20th - the first pre-orders will also be delivered on this day. Of course, there could be an exception this year - but if this is not the case, we will most likely see the process outlined above.
