Nintendo released a slightly revised version of its successful Nintendo Switch console in 2019. A Lite version followed in the fall. But what about a Pro model?

Rumors about a Nintendo Switch Pro are nothing new. The first clues were discovered in mid-2019. At that time, Nintendo submitted an application to the Federal Communications Commission of the United States. The content hinted at a Nintendo Switch Pro. Now a new report has been published by the controversial DigiTimes, according to which Nintendo is planning a new version of its handheld console. The platform believes that the Japanese game manufacturer could present a new device as early as the middle of this year. Mass production of this unknown console is expected to start soon - according to the Taiwanese tech blog.

Update possible in 2020

Although reports from DigiTimes should always be taken with a grain of salt - it is well known that they do not have a good hit rate in the world of technology - there might actually be something to this report. Last year it was already public that Nintendo had entered into a cooperation with Sharp to develop an improved display for the Nintendo Switch. This could therefore be the update in question. If Nintendo does indeed present a Pro version of the Switch, we can look forward to significantly higher processing power and improved graphics. But be careful - there is still the possibility that we will be offered something completely new or that nothing will appear at all. So let's wait and see! (Photo by Wladimir.B / Bigstockphoto)
