Developer studio Riot Games announced on Tuesday a mobile version of League of Legends: Wild Rift for 2020.

The now ten-year-old game is set to be released for mobile devices next year. However, this will not be a simple port but rather a "complete reinterpretation" - according to producer Michael Chow. The title was therefore developed specifically for mobile gaming.

“To get the gameplay just right, we had to rebuild it from scratch,” said Chow. "We have spent a long time making sure that this is a true League of Legends experience that is worth investing your precious playing time in." - said the producer. The new League of Legends: Wild Rift offers the same five-on-five gameplay as its PC counterpart. However, the fight time is reduced to 15 - 20 minutes. The controls will use a dual stick to enable quick access to movement, throws and more. The "Teamfight Tactics" mode will also be integrated.

The first rumors about a mobile version of League of Legends appeared in May of this year. The title is a computer game for Windows and macOS developed by Riot Games. The game was released on October 27, 2009. It is a free-to-play MOBA that is financed through microtransactions. The game was played by around 100 million players per month in 2016.
