Pitaka is one of the brands specializing in particularly thin, light, and robust iPhone cases. The Ultra Slim Case is one of their best-known models and is aimed at users who prefer a minimalist design. For testing, versions for the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the iPhone Air were among those available.

Pitaka products have been among the most reliable cases for years, remaining discreet yet robust in everyday use. Various models have impressed me in the past with their design and craftsmanship. For this test, new versions were provided, including the Ultra Slim Case. My experience over the years has shown that Pitaka consistently delivers on materials and quality, which is why my expectations for these cases were correspondingly high. Let's get started!
First impressions and design
The Ultra Slim Case immediately showcases the signature Pitaka style. The case is extremely thin and feels incredibly light in the hand. It barely alters the iPhone's appearance, creating an almost case-free feel. The aramid fiber provides a matte, grippy surface that exudes quality. Precise cutouts for buttons and ports ensure easy access and use. The design remains simple, modern, and functional.

Material and technical properties
The Ultra Slim Case is made of aerospace-grade aramid fiber. This material is known for its high strength, light weight, and heat resistance. It is used in jets and military equipment, among other things, and is therefore particularly suitable for lightweight, robust smartphone cases. Aramid fiber does not discolor, is abrasion-resistant, does not interfere with the iPhone's signal, and remains stable even at high temperatures.

Compared to other Pitaka models, the Ultra Slim Case relies exclusively on this fiber, while the ProGuard and UltraGuard versions also use TPU elements to absorb stronger impacts. This makes the Ultra Slim Case the lightest and most minimalist model in the series.

Everyday use and protection
In daily use, the cases demonstrate a good balance between stability and lightness. The iPhone remains slim and comfortable to hold, while receiving reliable protection against scratches, abrasions, and minor impacts. Thanks to the slightly raised edge, the camera sits securely on smooth surfaces. There are also no issues when used with screen protectors, as the case has no protruding edges.

Those needing maximum drop protection should opt for the ProGuard or UltraGuard series. The Ultra Slim Case is clearly aimed at users who prefer a lightweight and as inconspicuous a case as possible, which still offers decent basic protection.

MagSafe support
MagSafe support is one of the Ultra Slim Case's strengths. The integrated SlimBoard technology ensures that MagSafe chargers, mounts, and accessories fit securely. Wireless charging works at full speed, comparable to using the phone without a case. Accessories like the Pitaka MagEZ Car Mount Pro can also be used without any limitations.

Fit and handling
The case fits the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air perfectly. All edges are cleanly finished; nothing protrudes or feels sharp. Despite its slim design, the case feels sturdy and provides enough grip to hold the device securely. The precise fit makes the case feel like a natural extension of the iPhone, without noticeably altering its shape or weight.
Build quality
Pitaka has focused on highly precise manufacturing for years, and this is clearly evident in the new models. The material quality is high, the cutouts are perfectly executed, and the surface remains stable and resistant to wear even after extended use. The Ultra Slim case is therefore among the best-made models in the thin segment and confirms the brand's already well-known strengths.
Comparison of models
Three models were available for testing: the Ultra Slim Case, the Aramid ProGuard Case, and the Aramid UltraGuard Case. While the Ultra Slim Case focuses on minimalism and lightness, the ProGuard version offers enhanced protection through covered buttons and additional padding. The UltraGuard variant goes even further, employing thicker material and a heavier design to provide maximum protection.

All models use aramid fiber, but in different versions. The Ultra Slim Case therefore remains the most logical choice for users who prefer low weight, a slim design, and a discreet appearance.
Price information
Pitaka cases for the iPhone 17 Pro Max regularly cost € 59.99, but are reduced to € 47.99 or € 50.99 until December 1, 2025. The version for the iPhone Air is priced at € 49.99. All cases are available directly from Amazon. The price is in the premium segment, but reflects the high-quality materials, precise workmanship, and significantly slimmer design compared to many competing models.

Pitaka iPhone 17 cases: Minimalist design with noticeable benefits
The Pitaka iPhone 17 Pro (Max) cases presented a well-rounded package in our tests, combining high-quality materials, a slim design, and excellent everyday usability. The Ultra Slim case, in particular, is lightweight, offers reliable protection, and preserves the iPhone's original shape almost entirely. The aramid fiber provides a robust and durable surface, while the fit and MagSafe support are impressive in daily use.
The price is above average, but is well justified by the build quality, stability, and pleasantly slim design. In our tests, the Ultra Slim Case remained the most convincing option in the Pitaka series, confirming why the brand has been among the preferred choices in the premium segment for years.
