Apple is on the verge of one of the biggest changes in its software history. According to CEO Tim Cook, a revamped version of Siri is slated for release in 2026. The new generation of the voice assistant is expected to be more personal, context-aware, and significantly more intelligent. It will be part of Project Apple Intelligence, which integrates artificial intelligence directly into Apple's devices and operating systems. The launch is planned for March 2026, alongside iOS 26.4.

Tim Cook has repeatedly emphasized in recent months that Apple is making "good progress" in developing the new Siri. The company originally announced the personalized Siri features at WWDC 2024, but later postponed them. This was due to technical problems connecting machine learning systems with large language models. The delay led to dissatisfaction among users and several class-action lawsuits, but Apple stuck to its strategy of prioritizing quality and privacy over speed.

The new Siri will be more personal

The revamped Siri is intended to be more than just an improved voice assistant. It will be able to understand personal context and access information from various apps. Apple has already demonstrated an example in which a user asked Siri when his mother landed and where she had booked lunch – information that Siri automatically pulled from the Mail and Messages apps.

Among the most important new features is screen awareness. Siri will now be able to recognize what is currently displayed on the iPhone screen and perform actions based on that information. In addition, there will be more detailed control options for each app, which should make usage significantly more flexible.

Why everything was delayed

The original plans called for the new Siri to be released in early 2025. However, Apple halted the rollout after internal tests revealed that the integration between machine learning and AI systems was not reliable enough. Instead of short-term solutions, Apple decided to start from scratch. The goal was to develop a fully LLM-based system that runs stably and securely.

Following the overhaul, Siri is slated for release in early 2026 – this time with full integration into the entire Apple ecosystem. According to Cook, the planned launch remains on schedule. It will coincide with new AI partnerships, the details of which Apple has yet to reveal.

Apple Intelligence is being expanded

Alongside Siri, Apple Intelligence was also a focus of Cook's announcements. During the presentation of the latest financial results, the CEO stated that Apple continues to seek partners outside of OpenAI to expand its AI capabilities. No new collaborations have been announced yet, but discussions with companies like Anthropic are reportedly underway. The goal is to integrate various AI models into Apple's private cloud computing platform.

The Private Cloud Compute system plays a central role in Apple's AI strategy. It's designed to enable the secure processing of computationally intensive tasks in the cloud without compromising user data. This maintains the focus on data privacy, a core tenet of Apple's philosophy. In addition, Apple introduced the Model Context Protocol with iOS 26.1. This protocol aims to improve the integration of third-party AI with iPhone features without compromising security.

Business figures and expectations

Apple has released its fourth-quarter earnings, exceeding Wall Street expectations. Although iPhone sales didn't rise as much as hoped, the company once again posted record profits. Artificial intelligence has become a key focus for investors, with many hoping that Apple's new Siri and Apple Intelligence will trigger an AI upgrade cycle.

The new iPhone models – including the iPhone 16, the iPhone 17 series, and the upcoming iPhone 17e – are all capable of utilizing Apple Intelligence. Analysts expect demand for these devices to surge once the revamped Siri and enhanced AI capabilities are available.

Cook's outlook on the future

Tim Cook made it clear in interviews that Apple isn't simply reacting to existing AI trends, but rather pursuing its own path. The company aims to create an intelligent system that combines data privacy, performance, and user-friendliness. Apple sees the integration of Apple Intelligence not just as a software update, but as a step towards a fully connected ecosystem of hardware, operating system, and cloud.

Cook also said that Apple is still working on further partnerships to improve the integration of artificial intelligence. Specific announcements are expected at a later date.

Apple is getting serious about AI – and Siri is at the center of it.

Apple is preparing to make Siri and Apple Intelligence central components of its product strategy. After years of incremental improvements, a fundamental realignment is imminent. The revamped Siri is intended to demonstrate that Apple views artificial intelligence not as a short-term trend, but as a long-term platform for all devices.

With its planned launch in spring 2026, Apple could set a new standard for voice assistance and data privacy. The combination of local computing, cloud security, and personalized contextual understanding should bring Siri significantly closer to the needs of modern users.

For Apple, this is more than just a software update – it's the beginning of a new phase in which artificial intelligence becomes the driving force behind all product development.
