Apple has released the seventh developer beta of iOS 26. Although the final release is already within reach, the new beta brings several notable adjustments and bug fixes, with a particular focus on power management and health features.

iOS 26 already shows where the operating system is headed. While major changes are often seen in the early betas, later versions usually deliver fine-tuning, minor improvements, and final optimizations. iOS 26 Beta 7 not only contains fixes, but also features that offer real added value. Particularly interesting are the introduction of an adaptive energy mode and the redesigned blood oxygen function in combination with watchOS 26.

Revised blood oxygen function

One of the most noticeable changes concerns the Apple Watch. iOS 26 and watchOS 26 introduce a revised blood oxygen feature. It is available on the Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Series 10, and Apple Watch Ultra 2. These models have been sold in the US since mid-January 2024. The goal of the adjustment is to improve the accuracy and reliability of blood oxygen measurement, thus further positioning the Apple Watch as a health device.

Adaptive energy mode

Also new in iOS 26 is Adaptive Power Mode, which is introduced alongside the familiar Low Power Mode. This mode makes automatic adjustments to extend the iPhone's battery life. These include slightly reduced display brightness, longer runtimes for certain background processes, and automatically activating Low Power Mode when the battery level reaches 20 percent. In iOS 26 Beta 7, there is a new toggle option for Adaptive Power Notifications in Settings under Battery → Low Power Mode. This allows you to determine whether a push notification appears each time Low Power Mode is activated. While iOS 26 is compatible with the iPhone 11 series and newer models, Adaptive Power Mode is only available on the iPhone 15 Pro and newer models. This means that this feature remains reserved for the most recent devices.

Bug fixes and other adjustments

In addition to the new features, iOS 26 Beta 7 also fixes a bug that caused screenshots to appear darker. Such minor adjustments may seem inconspicuous at first glance, but they contribute to improving everyday use and making the system more stable.

iOS 26 Beta 7 as an important step in the beta cycle

iOS 26 Beta 7 demonstrates that Apple is pushing ahead with the final release. The combination of a revised blood oxygen feature, adaptive energy mode, and targeted bug fixes makes the update an important step in the beta cycle. While older iPhones continue to benefit from the overall enhancements, the exclusive features on the latest models like the iPhone 15 Pro add additional value. With each new version, it becomes clearer how Apple is positioning iOS 26: more efficient, more user-friendly, and with a clear focus on battery life and health features. Time for fresh accessories?
