With iOS 26 Beta 6, the next major iPhone update is nearing completion. Apple has switched the release schedule to weekly updates, indicating that the system is in its final testing phase. The official release is expected in September, along with the new iPhones. The current beta brings visual tweaks, small but noticeable feature changes, and some new content.
About a month before the launch of the new iPhone generation, iOS 26 Beta 6 shows where things are headed. The update includes numerous detailed improvements: from new ringtones to faster app animations to changes in the Camera app. The redesigned Liquid Glass design is present in several areas, and native apps like Preview also receive a new layout.
New ringtones
This beta version includes several new variations of the familiar "Reflection" ringtone. In addition to the familiar tones, Buoyant, Dreamer, Tech, Pop, Reflected, and Surge are now available. Reflected is based on the "Alt 1" ringtone introduced in Beta 2. Additionally, there's a completely new ringtone, "Little Bird."
Liquid glass design
Apple has further refined the Liquid Glass effect in various places. Toggle buttons now display a subtle glass effect when tapped. On the lock screen, the watch appears more transparent, but retains its matte look. The passcode buttons are also more transparent. The goal is a modern yet still legible style.
Navigation and readability
The navigation bars in apps have been adjusted to better balance transparency and readability. In some areas, transparency has been increased, while in others, the background has been deliberately made more opaque. This ensures that text remains clearly visible even against busy backgrounds.
Faster app animations
The animations for opening and closing apps are now significantly faster. There's a slight jump in the motion, aligned with the new lock screen and Control Center animations. This makes the entire system feel more responsive.
Changes in the camera app
The Classic Mode switch, introduced in Beta 5, has disappeared. Instead, this mode is now active by default. When switching between modes, the scrolling direction is automatically reversed, and there's no way to return to the previous animation.
New introductory video
After updating to iOS 26, a short introductory video will play. This explains the most important design changes, especially the new features surrounding the Liquid Glass design.
Preview app in new layout
The Preview app has received a slightly redesigned design. The buttons for creating or scanning documents are larger. When scanning, the controls are now located at the bottom of the interface instead of at the top, which should simplify operation.
Apple prepares iOS 26 for September launch
iOS 26 Beta 6 makes it clear that Apple is moving the update purposefully toward release. The changes aren't revolutionary, but they are noticeable. New sounds, a refined design, optimized animations, and small but important detail improvements make the system feel more modern and fluid. If Apple maintains its current update pace, the final version of iOS 26 should be released on time with the new iPhones.
