At the "Scary Fast" event, Apple not only introduced the new MacBook Pro but also presented a fresh M3 iMac. If you're curious what's changed compared to the M1 iMac, read on.

The M3 iMac uses the brand new M3 chip, which is based on the A17 Pro, which is also found in the iPhone 15 Pro. This chip was manufactured using the impressive 3-nanometer technology, which for us means more power and efficiency. Compared to the M1 iMac, the M3 is up to 2x faster - perfect for demanding tasks.

The M3 iMac: Configuration variety

With the M3 iMac, you have more options. The base model comes with an 8-core CPU and an 8-core GPU, combined with 8GB of RAM. But for those who want even more graphics power, there is a variant with a 10-core GPU. Compared to the M1 iMac, which only had 7- and 8-core GPU options, this is a welcome addition.

Graphics on a new level with ray tracing

One of the most exciting new features on the M3 iMac is the introduction of hardware-accelerated ray tracing. This means more realistic lighting, reflections and shadows in 3D applications and games. The new graphics processor on the M3 iMac sets new standards and opens up exciting possibilities for creatives and gamers.

Strong Connectivity

Connectivity has also been upgraded. WiFi 6E offers a faster and more stable wireless connection as it uses the powerful 6 GHz spectrum. Bluetooth 5.3 not only brings improved signal stability but also additional security through new encryption technologies. Support for Bluetooth LE audio and location determination opens up new possibilities for wireless audio and location services.

iMac with M3 chip Conclusion: Evolution, not revolution

Although the design and color options of the M3 iMac haven't changed drastically, it does offer an impressive performance boost and more configuration options. With ray-traced graphics and more memory, it sets a new standard for all-in-one computers. You can already pre-order the M3 iMac and it is expected to be available from November 7th. If you're an Intel user looking for a cheap upgrade, you can also find the M1 iMac at attractive prices on Amazon. Are you looking for new accessories?
