An unreleased MacBook Pro has appeared in a Canadian government database with faster WiFi 6e.

Apple is rumored to be preparing a major announcement for January 17th that could include an update to its product catalog. Now a regulatory filing has fueled the whole thing – it’s a new MacBook Pro model. The one by Wade Penner discovered An entry in the Industry Canada Radio Equipment List database describes an Apple product that was approved for WiFi transmissions on January 11. The application mentions that it is a "MacBook Pro" of unknown size, but with the hardware version number A2779. According to Penner, the application states that the model supports WiFi 6E and the 6 GHz band. Although the actual model is unknown, it is likely that it is a reissue of the 16-inch MacBook Pro or the 14-inch MacBook Pro.

Will Apple update the MacBook Pro line soon?

If so, it could also be one of the first products to include the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, a second generation of the M1 chips used in the existing 14" and 16" MacBook Pro models. As for WiFi, the inclusion of WiFi 6E is an improvement, as both the 14-inch and 16-inch models use WiFi 6. However, this is only beneficial if users have the appropriate network infrastructure. While the updates to the M2 versions were expected for the MacBook Pro models, the rest of the changes are minimal rather than a major overhaul of the notebooks. The general design and key features are expected to remain unchanged for the 2023 iteration, with the M2 Pro and M2 Max being the only real improvements to come. (Image: Apple)
