Apple's new MagSafe Battery Pack will begin shipping to customers around the world this week, and now the first image has been released showing the accessory in the wild.

Steven Russell of Memphis, Tennessee, explains on Reddit that he was able to get his hands on his copy of the MagSafe Battery Pack over the weekend. To be precise, he picked up the accessory at a local Apple Store. On Reddit, he shared a picture showing the product on an iPhone 12. In the process, Russell shared first impressions of the battery pack, noting that it is made of hard but smooth plastic and exerts a very strong magnetic attraction on his iPhone 12 Pro, even with Apple's silicone MagSafe case on the device.

He added added that the battery pack is quite thick but its rounded edges make it comfortable to hold. The MagSafe Battery Pack, which costs 109 euros, is magnetically attached to the back of the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro or iPhone 12 Pro Max and offers additional battery life.

Apple says the battery pack is capable of wirelessly charging the iPhone on the go at up to 5W, or up to 15W when the battery pack is connected to a 20W or higher power adapter using a Lightning to USB-C cable. When the MagSafe battery pack is connected to an iPhone 12 model running iOS 14.7 or later, it will automatically start charging the iPhone. The charging status will be displayed on the lock screen. FYI: iOS 14.7 will soon be available to all users worldwide. (Image: Apple)
