The Apple Watch Series 7 could feature a smaller “S7” chip, potentially allowing more room for a larger battery or other components.

The Taiwanese news site DigiTimes has published a new paid report published, which provides further details on the Apple Watch Series 7. It claims that the next-generation Apple Watch models will use a double-sided system-in-package (SiP) enclosure from Taiwanese supplier ASE Technology. On its website, ASE Technology confirms that its double-sided technology enables module miniaturization, paving the way for a smaller "S7" chip.

Apple Watch Series 7: New design with flat edges?

The Apple Watch Series 7 models are expected to be released in September - just like in previous years. Mark Gurman and Debby Wu from Bloomberg have already reported that Apple has tested thinner display edges and a new lamination technique that brings the display closer to the front cover. According to leaker Jon Prosser, the new smartwatch could have a new design with flat edges. The integration of advanced health functions such as body temperature and blood sugar measurement is planned for a later generation. (Image: Jon Prosser x Rendersbyan)
