Some HomePod users are reporting problems accessing Apple Music. These are said to be related to the latest software update 14.5. In many cases, Siri is no longer able to play songs in Apple Music.
Apple updated the HomePod to 14.5 last week. But interestingly, reports are increasing (via 9to5mac) around problems only recently. Could these really be traced back to the latest software update? Apple has been struggling with problems in iCloud for a few days now. iTunes and Apple Music, as well as various other services, have been affected several times.
Apple Music and HomePod: AirPlay as an emergency solution
Currently, there's no answer to what users can do if they can't use Apple Music on their HomePod. Some users have been able to resolve the issue by resetting their HomePod to factory settings – others, unfortunately, haven't. Furthermore, it seems that not every HomePod owner is affected. I, for example, haven't encountered any issues so far. Anyone experiencing this issue and unable to resolve it should use AirPlay. While it's not as convenient as using "Hey Siri," it at least allows you to listen to music. Should there be any news regarding this, we will update this article or publish a new one, depending on the scope. (Photo by Unsplash / Ivan Bandura)
