Apple's AirTags are now officially available. Just a few hours later, the first teardown video was discovered. This is what the AirTags look like from the inside.

The Japanese repair channel Haruki published a teardown of the Apple AirTag on Friday evening publishedThis one provides a first look at the internal components and design of the tracking accessory. The first image shows how easy it is to remove the tracker's rear metal cover to replace the battery. But Haruki goes a step further and dismantles the device's battery plate, revealing components like the U1 chip.

AirTags: A comprehensive teardown will follow

Although the video is in Japanese, the clip gives a good insight into the internal design. For example, the chip parts are housed in a compact, donut-shaped circuit board. In the video description, the teardown engineer points out that the AirTag's voice coil motor, which is located in the device's central magnetic field, vibrates due to current fluctuations. The housing on the coil side of the device acts as a membrane. Anyone who wants to see a comprehensive teardown will have to be patient. iFixit will surely provide a post about it shortly.
