iMac, iPad Pro & Apple TV: Will shipping start on May 21st?

According to several sources, including Jon Prosser, Apple will ship the new iMac, iPad Pro with M1 chip, and updated Apple TV 4K with redesigned Siri Remote on May 21.

Apple previously announced these products at the "Spring Loaded" event in April. The company said that deliveries would begin in the second half of May. No specific date has been given yet. Interested parties can officially pre-order both the iMac and the new iPad Pro models as well as the Apple TV 4K from Apple starting tomorrow. The May 21 date was already mentioned by Prosser a few days ago, with the suggestion that the 11-inch device would be released a day later, on May 22. Since then, other retailers have also started setting the release date to May 21. For example, the product pages for the 24-inch iMac from the British retailer (and authorized Apple reseller) John Lewis customers that the new iMac models will be available starting May 21st.

iMac & iPad Pro: Many new features

The new iMac takes advantage of efficient Apple silicon with an all-new chassis design that shrinks the thickness of the computer to a uniform 11 millimeters. The bezels have been reduced so that Apple can offer a 24-inch display without the iMac being that much larger than the 21-inch model it replaces. The brand new iMac is available in seven colors. The new iPad Pro features an M1 chip for improved computing and graphics performance and 5G connectivity. It has also been equipped with a Thunderbolt port to be compatible with an even wider range of accessories. For example, it can support the full-resolution Apple Pro Display XDR. In addition, the 12.9-inch model has a miniLED display (Apple calls it Liquid Retina XDR) that offers OLED-like contrast and brightness levels.

Apple TV 4K: The biggest innovation is the Siri Remote

Meanwhile, the Apple TV 4K has received an upgrade in internal specifications and is now equipped with an A12 chip. This means that it can now display 4K HDR content at a high frame rate. The biggest change in the new Apple TV, however, is the redesigned Siri Remote. The new remote features a circular clickpad that combines a four-way D-pad with touch gestures, new buttons for mute and power, housed in a more robust aluminum housing. The new Siri Remote will also be available separately for 65 euros and is compatible with all Apple TV devices running tvOS. All three products can be pre-ordered online from Apple starting tomorrow - 2 p.m. in this country. (Image: Apple)
