iPhone mini: It's over next year

Fans of smaller smartphones have long waited for Apple to launch a smaller iPhone with a modern design and features like Face ID. This wish came true with the iPhone 12 mini last year. A successor is also said to be planned - but that could be the last one for now.

In a report to investors, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo commented on the iPhone 2022 lineup, explaining that it will consist of four models. The 2022 generation will therefore include two 6.1-inch and two 6.7-inch devices. If there is no iPhone mini next year, the iPhone SE with its 4.7-inch display would reclaim the title of smallest iPhone. However, the current iPhone SE is actually slightly larger than the 5.4-inch mini model because it has thicker bezels and a Touch ID home button. The iPhone SE also only has one camera lens on the back and is equipped with an LCD screen. The iPhone 12 mini, on the other hand, relies on a much better OLED display.

iPhone 2021: Mini fans should consider an upgrade

In recent months there have been numerous reports about the iPhone 12 mini selling poorly compared to the other iPhone 12 models. For this reason, Apple is said to have dramatically reduced production as inventory levels are said to be extremely high. Nevertheless, the company is planning Pursue to introduce a direct successor this year. If Kuo is right, fans of the mini model should consider purchasing the 2021 version. Because it remains unclear if and when Apple will ever introduce such a small model again. Of course, it is not impossible that the device will return at some point in a similar form as an SE version. (Photo by Unsplash / Thai Nguyen)
