Mac mini & MacBook Pro 13″ with support for 6K monitors

Yesterday, Apple introduced the brand new M1 chip in the Apple Silicon series and launched three new Mac devices. Both the Mac mini and the MacBook Pro 13″ support 6K monitors.

US blog MacRumors reports that Apple's new Mac mini and 13-inch MacBook Pro not only gain capabilities within the Mac that were previously impossible, but also work natively with some accessories for the first time. Thanks to the new M1 processor that Apple unveiled at the "One more thing" Mac event, the new 13-inch MacBook Pro and Mac mini are now compatible with a 6K screen, including Apple's own Pro Display XDR, a high-end screen that was usually reserved for Mac Pro owners. Oddly enough, the Intel-based MacBook Air launched this year was already capable of driving a 6K screen, so this is just a new feature for the 13-inch MacBook Pro and Mac mini. This now creates an even wider range of Macs that, as noted by MacRumors below, support higher-end screens. So is called it in the report:

Apple M1 processor brings many advantages

Support for 6K displays is spreading across the Mac lineup, including the 2018 MacBook Pro and newer 15-inch or 16-inch MacBook Pro, the 2020 MacBook Pro, 13-inch MacBook Pro with four Thunderbolt ports, the 2019 or newer iMac models, and the 2019 Mac Pro. Apple's Pro Display XDR is also compatible with any Mac model with Thunderbolt 3 ports that can be paired with a Blackmagic eGPU.

Apple introduced the new M1 processor, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini at yesterday's "One more thing" event. The new chip enables up to three and a half times faster CPU performance and up to five times faster GPU performance. In addition, the new chip enables significant battery life - more on that below.
