iPhone 12 Pro & Samsung Note 20 Ultra in the speed test

The Samsung Note 20 Ultra was introduced in August 2020 and was considered the fastest smartphone to date. The Snapdragon 865+ chip and 12 GB RAM made it possible. But can it also beat the iPhone 12 Pro? No!

The iPhone 12 Pro uses the brand new A14 chip, which was manufactured based on 5nm technology, and has a total of 6 GB of RAM. A look at this information suggests that the Samsung Note 20 Ultra is probably faster, right? Wrong! The YouTube channel PhoneBuff has done a speed test that answers the performance question. The brand new A14 Bionic processor is the first chip manufactured based on 5nm technology. It is found in all four iPhone 12 models, and yes, it makes the Korean flagship look pretty old. fun fact:

After Apple introduced the iPhone 12 series and confirmed the elimination of the power adapter, Samsung naturally had to comment on it again. The Koreans made fun of Apple and claimed that the Galaxy phones had the "best camera, battery, performance, storage" and more.

Apple vs. Samsung: Literally blown away

Benchmark tests have already shown that the Apple A14 processor makes the iPhone 12 faster than its rival. In the Geekbench 5 multi-core test, the iOS device scores 3882. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, on the other hand, achieved a score of 2770 in the same test. But not everyone trusts benchmarks. So a direct speed test was needed and that's what PhoneBuff did. In the first round, the two devices had to open a series of applications and perform tasks. In the second run, the same applications were opened again to measure the reload time. The iPhone 12 Pro won the first round by 14 seconds. As a reminder: The A14 chip has four performance and two efficiency cores that clock at 3 GHz. Cupertino naturally also won the second round - by three seconds less.

Samsung Note 20 Ultra: Expensive and slow

The speed test proves once again that RAM alone is not everything. The advantage of an iPhone is that the software harmonizes with the hardware and can process it properly. An advantage that Samsung will never have. And seriously - what's the point of having fully-crammed hardware if the software can't process it properly? Finally, the question of price should be mentioned. The Samsung Note 20 Ultra costs around $300 more than the iPhone 12 Pro and is around $200 more expensive than the iPhone 12 Pro Max. So it's not only slower but also more expensive. If you want to see the entire speed test, you can find the video below. Have you already discovered the early Black Friday offers on Amazon?
