Rumors are currently circulating about a new entry-level MacBook. Now Bloomberg is also reporting on a Mac mini device – it is due to be released this year.

The Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman seems to have excellent contacts in Cupertino. His predictions have often come true – as the past shows.

Now he claims to have learned that Apple will be introducing a Mac mini this year alongside the new MacBook Air. The new notebook will be very similar to the current MacBook Air, but will have a narrower display bezel. The device will have a 13" Retina screen. Based on the various rumors from Asia, Gurman emphasizes that this will definitely be a successor to the MacBook Air. The device will be available for well under the $1,000 mark. Apple also wants to appeal to schools with this.

The Mac mini is coming

The iGroup also seems to want to give the Mac mini an update at the same time, reports Gurman. The device was first introduced in 2005 and was last updated by Apple in 2014. There are few details so far, but according to Bloomberg, Apple is changing its strategy. The new Mac mini is aimed more at app developers and administrators of large server farms, among others. Of course, the installed hardware will be significantly upgraded, which will ultimately also be reflected in the price.

Bloomberg According to reports, Apple will introduce the new Macs in October - September is said to be reserved for the new iPhones and the 4th generation of the Apple Watch, among other things. The new iPads will probably be introduced alongside the Macs in October.
