The Apple AirTags were first documented in the summer of 2019. At that time, the first clues were discovered in the code of an early iOS 13 beta. However, there have been no pictures to date.

Apple's AirTags are intended to compete with Tile and help you never lose bags, keys or similar again. But unlike Tile, AirTags are deeply integrated into iOS and should work much better in the Apple ecosystem. While the name is already considered certain, the design remains unclear. There are plenty of concept images. But the newcomer among the leakers - Jon Prosser - now wants to change that. According to his statements, he claims to have seen the AirTags and received recordings. To protect his sources, he had the product made by a concept designer. He has now revealed them in his latest video.

AirTags: Key chains can be purchased separately

As described in previous rumors, the "AirTag" essentially consists of a round white disc with a metal back on which the Apple logo and other related information can be seen. The size of the product is roughly the same as that of a bottle cap - according to Prosser. According to the leaker, Apple will ship a keychain for the "AirTag", which will be sold separately. However, the price is not known for either the "AirTag" or the keychain. The ultra-wideband technology will be part of the product. According to Prosser, Apple plans to include it in every product in the future. Below you will get a little insight into how it works, which was leaked thanks to iOS 13.

What happens if an item with an AirTag is completely lost?

If, for example, you lose your wallet, there is a solution. The user can use the “Where is?” app to make the AirTag ring using a special button. Of course, this only applies if the lost item is nearby.

AirTag gets lost in public – what now?

When users attach an AirTag to their wallet or bag, there is always the risk that the item will be lost somewhere outside. In the worst case, the lost AirTag is no longer near its owner. The alarm would therefore no longer be of any help. But Apple has a practical solution for this too. If this is the case, the user can put the AirTag into lost mode. As soon as another iPhone user with iOS 13 or later is nearby, they will receive a message with the owner's contact information to inform them about the found item. At the same time, however, the actual owner of the lost AirTag will also receive a message that it has been located by another iPhone. This is made possible by the integration of Bluetooth - however, the function requires iOS 13 or later. But there is another option.

Search for AirTags using Augmented Reality

However, the iOS 13 code at the time revealed another search option. It seems as if the feature can access Apple's ARKit. This allows users to search for lost items using augmented reality. If you activate this search option, the following message appears:

“Walk around several meters and move your iPhone up and down until a balloon appears in view.”

According to this, the location on the iPhone is visualized by this marking. When Apple will actually present the product remains unclear for the time being. Rumors say that the presentation is planned for this year. Apple may launch the AirTags together with the iPhone 12 in October introduce – at least that’s what some leakers claim.
