Apple will finally kick off WWDC 2020 on Monday with the traditional keynote. iOS 14, iPadOS 14, tvOS 14, watchOS 7 and macOS 10.16 will be unveiled. Now there is a new report that tells us in advance which products Apple will not present on Monday and what we can expect.

The World Wide Developer Conference is actually a software event that runs for a whole week - this year for the first time digitally. In addition to the keynote, there are dozens of sessions and more. But Apple often also presents individual hardware products that then go on sale later in the year. This year there were rumors about some new products, including a brand new iMac, AirTags, AirPods Studio, the Apple TV 6 and a new HomePod. But which of these will Apple actually present? According to a new Bloomberg report, both the new discounted HomePod and the Apple TV 6 are no longer available. Both devices are not due to be presented until later this year. What seems certain, however, is the presentation of the first ARM chip. According to this, Apple plans to present the brand new processor. By and large, WWDC 2020 will follow its core and focus mainly on software. This is what the report says. report:

iOS 14 is being unscrewed

Apple is planning minor upgrades to the Apple TV set-top box's software, with a new version of the hardware already in the works for later this year, while the Apple Watch is expected to get new watch faces, a mode for kids and, most importantly, a new sleep monitoring app. And it's working on a new, smaller HomePod due out later this year.

It goes on to say that the porting of iOS updates to macOS will also be improved. This means that Apple is probably working on bringing more features and applications from iOS and iPadOS to the Mac. Over the past few months, for example, indications have been discovered that the iOS version of iMessage will be ported to the Mac. There will also be an expansion at the software level with regard to the HomePod. Accordingly, from this year it will be possible to fully integrate Spotify in addition to Apple Music. This will take "opening iOS" to the next level. Accordingly, there will also be the option to select default applications yourself. This means that users will be able to choose the default browser and mail app themselves, for example. However, it remains unclear whether Apple will actually confirm these changes at WWDC 2020.

iOS 14: The software testing process has been revised

In addition, Apple is said to have revised the software testing process internally - fundamentally. According to this, iOS 14 is supposed to be more stable and error-free overall. This means that users and beta testers do not have to fear an "iOS 13 2.0" adventure. Bloomberg concludes that the new software is a prerequisite for many new devices. The company not only listed the four new iPhones and the Apple Watch Series 6, but also mentioned the new over-ear headphones (AirPods Studio) and AirTags. It says:

The software updates lay the foundation for a number of new hardware devices also coming this year, including a new Apple Watch, four redesigned iPhones, the new HomePod and Apple TV box, and updates to the iMac and MacBook Pro. The company is also planning its first pair of over-ear headphones, as well as a physical object-finding accessory that will integrate with the new software.
