Apple released the second beta of iOS 13.6 this evening, which was originally introduced as iOS 13.5.5. In the process, a new feature was added in the area of iOS updates.

The second beta of iOS 13.6 contains a feature that has been requested by fans in recent months (discovered by Jeremy Horwitz). iOS updates are usually downloaded automatically in the background - a process that cannot be controlled by the user. Here, only the automatic installation can be activated or deactivated. However, Apple has now added a function that gives more control over iOS updates. This means that under iOS 13.6, users can decide for themselves whether software updates should be automatically downloaded and installed in the background or not.

iOS 13.6 update control: Changes to the configuration possible

For this purpose, a second switch has been implemented in the "Software Update" section of the "General" settings. The "Automatic Update" switch enables the software to be downloaded in the background as long as the device is connected to Wi-Fi, while the "Install iOS Update" switch controls automatic installation. Both switches are currently enabled by default. So, if you don't want this, you'll have to manually disable it after updating to iOS 13.6. However, there's always the possibility that Apple will make changes to the configuration before the final version of the operating system is released to all users. (Photo by manae / Bigstockphoto)
