NOVA BANA, SLOVAKIA - NOV 12, 2019: New Apple Watch Series 5

Which Apple Watch models will support watchOS 7? When will the Apple Watch finally get Touch ID? Will Apple also offer oxygen saturation measurement? These questions should now be answered.

The YouTube channel iUpdate has already collaborated with The Verifier Earlier this week around a sixth-generation Apple TV reported. Now both platforms have published a new report that covers watchOS 7 and future Apple Watch models with Touch ID. According to the latest rumor, Apple is working on an Apple Watch with Touch ID. Cupertino is pursuing two approaches. Firstly, the fingerprint sensor could be placed under the display. Alternatively, there is the possibility that Apple will place Touch ID in the Digital Crown. It remains unclear whether the feature will appear this year - in the Apple Watch Series 6. The two platforms believe that Touch ID will not be introduced until the Apple Watch Series 7 at the earliest.

watchOS 7 is not supported by every Apple Watch

The integration of this biometric recognition technology has been expected for years. Until now, users have had to resort to the PIN code or use their iPhone to unlock the smartwatch. In addition, the report confirms a discovery by 9to5mac, according to which users will be able to measure the oxygen saturation in the blood in the future. Sleep monitoring is also finally coming. Furthermore, the general system UI will be revised and Siri will be improved under watchOS 7. According to The Verifier, the Apple Watch Series 6 will not receive any fundamental design changes. There was also a comment regarding watchOS 7 compatibility. According to this, the Apple Watch Series 2 will not receive watchOS 7 support. If this information is correct, the Series 1 will also be retired. The official presentation of watchOS 7 is expected at this year's WWDC 2020 in June, while the Apple Watch Series 6 could be announced in the fall of this year.
