In the Apple Online Store, customers were previously able to leave a review for individual products – but this now no longer seems to be possible.
Apple has quietly removed the "Reviews" section of its online store entirely. It remains unclear when the company actually removed the section. The discovery was first made by the US blog AppleInsider. Various US media outlets speculate that Apple must have removed the "Reviews" section earlier this month. This means potential customers can no longer view or write product reviews.
Since Apple sells third-party accessories in its own shop alongside its own products, the selection is correspondingly large. The opinions of other buyers have occasionally been quite useful. Why Cupertino removed the section remains unknown at this time. It is suspected that the reason is due to some negative reviews. The Verge cites the Lightning to 3.5mm headphone adapter as an example. This controversial accessory had well over 700 one-star reviews. However, other products also often received negative reviews. Anyone who wants to see reviews of specific items before purchasing them in the future will have to resort to Google. Alternatively, the "Questions & Answers" section in the online shop could also be helpful. Whether Apple will comment on this matter remains to be seen. (Photo by TeroVesalainen / Bigstockphoto)
