It's been a very exciting few days for Instagram. While old features are disappearing, new and, above all, useful features are being introduced - including the latest one in terms of fraud.
Phishing emails are a major problem these days – while some of these emails are very easy to detect, others are almost impossible to distinguish from the original. It's therefore no surprise that there are still users who fall for them. But what can be done about it? How can a company combat cybercriminals stealing the company logo and using it for fraudulent purposes? Instagram has a solution – "Emails from Instagram." As has now become known, the Facebook group wants to offer its users a way to compare data. Every Instagram user will have an area in the app that documents all official emails. This means that if a user receives an email from Instagram and is unsure of its authenticity, they can go directly to the Instagram app and compare the emails in the "Emails from Instagram" section.
How to find “Emails from Instagram”
If the email is genuine, it will appear in the appropriate section – anything else would be considered fake. This new feature is not only a real solution but also probably the best way to immediately identify phishing emails. The feature – "Emails from Instagram" – can be accessed in the Instagram settings under Security. All official emails from the last 14 days are archived there.
The new feature is probably Instagram's response to the major phishing attack at the end of August - this was discovered and published by Sophos at the time. The feature is currently being rolled out, so it may happen that not every user has immediate access to it. You can find more news about Instagram below. (Photo by TeroVesalainen / Bigstockphoto)
