References to new applications were found in the second beta of macOS 10.15 Catalina. These are said to be the iMessage and Shortcuts apps as Catalyst versions.

At WWDC 2019 (World Wide Developers Conference) in June, Apple officially presented the "Catalyst" project - a tool for developers that is intended to make it easier to port iOS applications to macOS. The first four apps that were ported from iOS to macOS are News, Stocks, Voice Memos and Home - according to the latest beta, the fine-tuning for these is almost complete. Now, however, references to further apps have been found - perhaps a missed surprise?

Catalyst fully in use

Well-known developer and hacker Steven Troughton-Smith has released a new beta of macOS 10.15 Catalina discovered code that points to the Catalyst versions of iMessage and Shortcuts. "There is a lot of evidence in Catalina that Apple is working on a full Catalyst version of iMessage and Shortcuts," Troughton-Smith said on Twitter.

According to his report, completing the frameworks would bring two native applications for macOS to the surface. Apple may make other iOS applications macOS-compatible - whether the two apps will be released during the beta phase remains to be seen for now. This is how it continues after iTunes. (Image: Apple)
