Apple announced yesterday evening as planned the second beta of iOS 13 and Co. for developers. Some changes were made and old functions were revised.

Overall, there are no exciting new features in the second version of the new iPhone operating system. However, to the delight of many developers, some well-known functions have been fixed and a few announced features have been added. You can see all the changes that have been found so far below:

  • Notes: The second beta of iOS 13 includes a new option that allows you to automatically move highlighted items to the bottom of a list. It can be customized via the settings or the popup that appears when you first create a list.
  • Downtime: According to a note from Apple, the Downtime feature in Screen Time will now sync with Apple Watch.
  • Maps: In the second beta of iOS 13, the user is greeted with a quick guide when opening Maps.
  • New Animoji stickers: There are a number of new Animoji stickers under the second beta of iOS 13 that include new gestures.
  • Portrait mode: The new Portrait mode lighting is now available on all 2018 iPhone models.
  • Slider in portrait mode: The slider that allows you to adjust the intensity of the lighting effects in portrait mode is now available.
  • SMB server connectivity: One of the new features in iOS 13 is the option to connect to a server via SMB in the Files application. This feature didn't work in the first beta. The bug has now been fixed so that iOS 13 users can access a NAS system, for example.
  • APFS drives in files: APFS formatted drives are now supported by the File application.
  • Voice Control: If the new voice control function is activated, there will be a blue symbol at the top of the display indicating that the mode is switched on.
  • CarPlay: The Now Playing section now includes album art in the second beta of iOS 13.
  • HomePod: In the second beta of iOS 13, the HomePod can now be controlled with multiple voices.
  • tvOS 13: The picture-in-picture feature is now available in the second beta of tvOS 13.

Of course, some minor bugs have also been fixed. According to initial reports, the second beta of iOS 13 is more stable overall. If further changes emerge, we will update the article.

A notice: As usual, a beta should not be installed on an actively used device, as the first beta versions of major updates are usually quite unstable - we recommend a second device for this. We also advise against searching for beta profiles on the Internet as an unregistered developer - corresponding public beta versions will follow in July.
