Apple's latest iPad Pro sets new standards in tablet performance, especially when it comes to AI tasks. Below, we'll explore the impressive capabilities of the iPad Pro with the new M4 chip, based on recent benchmarks. Find out how it stacks up against other Apple devices like the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.

At a time when artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly important, the hardware that supports these technologies plays a crucial role. Apple has apparently taken a big leap forward with its latest iPad Pro model, which is equipped with a 10-core M4 chip.

Performance comparison with MacBook Pro and MacBook Air

The recent published Benchmarks on GeekBench for the 13-inch iPad Pro with M4 chip show that this device is slightly ahead of the MacBook Pro with M3 processor in terms of AI tasks. With a result of 9234 points in the "Core ML Neural Engine Inference", the iPad Pro shows that it is extremely powerful despite its compact form. This value is about 10% faster than the fan-cooled M3 MacBook Pro. In comparison, the MacBook Air with M3 chip, which does not have active cooling, performs significantly worse with about 6800 points.

Comparison within the iPad Pro series

The new iPad Pro with M4 chip also shows impressive improvements within its own product line. For comparison: the previous model, the iPad Pro with M2 chip, only achieved around 7400 points, while the even older model with M1 chip only managed around 3400 points. This increase underlines the rapid development that Apple is making in terms of the processor performance of its tablets.

skepticism and speculation

However, there is skepticism about the origin and reliability of this data. The fact that the benchmark appears to have been run on iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 - an operating system that has not yet been officially released - raises questions. However, if these results are authentic, they may actually underestimate the real performance of the device somewhat, as internal iOS or iPadOS versions are often burdened with additional telemetry data that can affect performance.

The M4 iPad Pro: Unfolding a New Era

The new iPad Pro with M4 chip looks to be a powerful device for those looking for a capable tablet for AI applications and beyond. Although the exact accuracy of the benchmark data available has yet to be confirmed, the potential of the iPad Pro is undeniable. With the upcoming release and the first reviews expected in mid-May, it will be clear how the new iPad Pro performs in real-world use. So if you're looking for a top-of-the-line tablet, you should definitely keep an eye on the new iPad Pro. (Image: Apple)
