Netflix was founded by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph in 1997 in Los Gatos, California and initially operated as an online video store that shipped films on DVD and Blu-ray.

In 2007, Netflix entered the video-on-demand business and made content available to its subscribers via streaming. In June 2018, Netflix had 130 million subscribers worldwide. Prices for new customers were already raised in January. Now the popular streaming service has also increased prices for existing customers - currently only in the USA.

The basic tariff has been raised from 8 to 9 US dollars per month. The HD stream subscription now costs 13 US dollars. Anyone who has booked the Ultra HD package will have to pay 16 US dollars per month in the future. The Euro prices are the same as the US amounts. It has not been communicated when Netflix will increase the package prices in Germany. However, an adjustment is considered certain. Netflix removes AirPlay support

Update 11.04.2019:

Now it's official. Netflix has also raised its prices in this country. The standard tariff now costs 11.99 euros and allows you to stream series and films on two devices at the same time. The premium package will cost 15.99 euros in the future - this allows you to stream on up to four devices at the same time. Compatible series and films can also be watched in Ultra HD. The small SD package remains the same - this still costs 7.99 euros.
