Synchronization problems: Apple fixes iCloud bug

MYKOLAIV, UKRAINE - AUGUST 27, 2020: Flat lay composition with iPhone 11, MacBook laptop and iPad tablet on wooden table

Apple appears to have fixed an issue with the iCloud server that caused some apps that support iCloud to fail to sync properly.

The iCloud bug has reportedly been around since November. App developers have increasingly complained about Apple's lack of effort to fix the problem. Now the company seems to have fixed the issue, according to Becky Hansmeyer, developer of YarnBuddy, reportedUsers of apps with iCloud issues saw 503 error messages such as "Request failed with http status code 503." Several developers have since confirmed that the error messages have disappeared. The iCloud sync bug appears to have surfaced sometime in late November or early December and has caused developers a lot of headaches. App users experiencing iCloud sync issues are unaware that it's an Apple issue, so the developers are being blamed.

Synchronization problems in iCloud have been around for a long time

Some app developers even went so far as to build iCloud status indicators into their apps so that end users can see for themselves if there are any problems with how iCloud works. While most developers have now stated that the sync problem has been largely resolved, there are still some complaints about ongoing issues, so Apple still has some bugs to resolve. By the way: It is worth noting that the iCloud sync problem is a problem that developers have been struggling with for months. That is, it has nothing to do with the current two-day iCloud outage that is affecting iCloud services in general. (Photo by New Africa / Bigstockphoto)
