Rumor: Apple is planning its own AppleTV stick

The first generation of Apple TV was released with a 40 GB hard drive on March 21, 2007. Shortly thereafter, another version with 160 GB followed.

Competing products such as Amazon's FireTV or Google's Chromecast only came onto the market a few years later. Now, according to a recent report, Apple is also planning a cheap TV solution. Apple's planned streaming service is only compatible with its own products. In order to increase its reach, Apple wants to attract new customers with a cheap AppleTV stick. US media outlets claim to have learned this from informed sources. The device is said to be much smaller than the current AppleTV and much cheaper. Of course, the stick's functionality will also be somewhat limited - for example, it would be conceivable that games would not be available.

family-friendly

The streaming content is set to be broadcast in Apple's own TV app in the first half of 2019. The iGroup is said to also want to integrate other streaming services into the app to make it easier for users to use. The login details of the respective platform would be sufficient to gain access to the content. Apple wants to appeal primarily to families with the upcoming offering, which is why the content is produced as violence-free as possible. According to rumors, the company is said to have provided a billion US dollars for the first wave of video content.
