A new report claims that Apple is working on an update to its entire AirPods lineup. New models for the AirPods are expected to debut soon. In addition to new AirPods Pro, the AirPods Max could also appear in new color options.
Loud Bloomberg Apple is preparing a new version of its entry-level AirPods that should go on sale before the end of 2021. Unspecified sources echo previous reports that the new design will have a revised case and shorter stem, similar to the current AirPods Pro. The AirPods Pro will reportedly get a redesigned design that includes updated motion trackers for more fitness applications. The sources say the redesigned AirPods Pro will launch sometime in 2022.
AirPods: Is Apple working on a new audio format?
The AirPods Max won't undergo any major physical redesigns, but Apple is reportedly considering offering new colors. This isn't certain yet, though. New AirPods, dubbed "AirPods 3," have been repeatedly predicted, with various release dates, including mid-May 2021. We've also seen rumors surrounding a redesign of the AirPods Pro 2. Interestingly, there have also been rumors that Apple is working on a new, proprietary high-fidelity audio format to enable lossless Apple Music streaming on AirPods.
